The Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Department released the "2015 Guangdong Province Motor Vehicle Pollution Prevention and Control Annual Report" on October 11, which is the first time that Guangdong issued the annual report. It is reported that due to the implementation of more stringent motor vehicle emission standards, accelerated elimination of high-emission yellow-label vehicles, and improved vehicle fuel quality, the province’s motor vehicle pollutants have increased by 5.7% compared with 2014. Emissions fell by 9.7%.
The "Annual Report" also revealed that it is estimated that the number of motor vehicles in the province will increase at a rate of about 5% per year in the next five years, and the consumption of gasoline and diesel for vehicles will increase at a rate of about 3% per year.
Guangdong Province is a province with a large number of motor vehicles. According to the "Annual Report", in 2015, the number of motor vehicles in Guangdong reached 25.214 million, an increase of 5.7% over 2014, of which cars accounted for 58.0%. The cities with large motor vehicle ownership are mainly concentrated in the Pearl River Delta region. The top five cities in terms of quantity are Shenzhen, Jiangmen, Guangzhou, Dongguan and Foshan, with 320, 277, 244, 189 and 1.6 million vehicles respectively.
In terms of automobiles, the number of vehicles in the province in 2015 was 14.412 million, an increase of 11.4% over 2014. The top five cities in terms of ownership are Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Foshan and Zhongshan, with 311, 221, 185, 122, and 700,000 vehicles respectively.
