On the morning of July 15, FAW Group officially launched its sixth-generation flagship truck, the Liberation J6, at its production base in Changchun. This marked a significant milestone in China's commercial vehicle industry, as the J6 represents a leap in quality and technology, positioning Chinese-made heavy trucks on the global stage.
Chang Yan FA, General Manager of Changchun FAW Group, emphasized the historical significance of the event during the J6 launch ceremony. He recalled that 51 years ago, the first Liberation truck rolled off the assembly line, ending China’s reliance on imported vehicles. "Today, the release of the J6 shows that China is capable of producing world-class heavy trucks," he said, highlighting the brand’s evolution over five decades.
As the pioneer of China’s commercial vehicle sector, the Liberation brand has played a key role in shaping the country’s automotive history. From the iconic CA10 model to the advanced J6, each generation has brought revolutionary changes to the industry. The J6, in particular, is not just an upgrade but a symbol of technological independence and global competitiveness.
The development of the J6 took six years and involved a massive investment of hundreds of billions of yuan. Over 300 technical innovations were achieved, with 197 national patents filed. One of the most notable achievements is the Olympian 13-liter diesel engine, which features a common-rail fuel injection system and delivers up to 460 horsepower. It is currently the largest and most powerful engine in China.
At the launch event, Hessler, Deputy General Manager of the International Certification Department at the Rhine Company, confirmed that the J6 meets European standards. He praised FAW for entering the ranks of world-class commercial vehicle manufacturers, signaling a new era for Chinese engineering.
With the J6 now on the market, China is no longer just a player in the global truck industry—it is now a major contender, ready to compete on equal footing with the best in the world.
