Japan's three-source (FFI) has recently launched a new product line called "Sangpa Staier," utilizing an innovative technology for fine powder pigmentation. This breakthrough allows for a soft, lightweight color that is ideal for coloring powdery substances like tablet medications, cake-type confections, and chocolates. The product is now available on the market. The new line was developed to meet the growing demand in the hobby tablet, cool-type cakes, sweets, and dietary supplement sectors. Using advanced technology, FFI has created micronized pigments with an average particle size of 1-5 μm. Key advantages include improved heat resistance during processing, preventing pigment discoloration, and achieving a clear, pale, and soft color when mixed. Traditional pigments, due to their larger particle size, often result in uneven, dot-like coloring when used in direct compression tablets. In contrast, the new product offers uniform dispersion, delivering a color effect equivalent to 1.5 times the concentration of previous products. Most notably, it leaves no residue or stains, and color stability has been confirmed through testing. The product line includes four natural pigments: beet red, riboflavin, gardenia blue, and spirulina. A major benefit is the availability of bright primary colors, allowing manufacturers to create any desired shade by mixing different colors in various ratios. The process is simple and efficient. Not only does it deliver excellent color quality, but the streamlined production process also reduces costs, making it highly favored by food manufacturers. Chocolate makers often face challenges with emulsifier-based pigments, which can alter the texture and flavor of chocolate. The new pigment, however, can be directly mixed into white chocolate, resulting in evenly colored products. This makes it a promising option for both tablet and chocolate markets, with significant potential for future growth and application.
