A few days ago, details were released from the National Symposium on Special Equipment Safety Supervision. The State Administration for Market Regulation (formerly AQSIQ) is currently working with various ministries, commissions, and geological inspection agencies to explore the implementation of energy-saving supervision for special equipment. This marks a significant shift in focus, as the country looks to address not only safety but also energy efficiency.
According to Zhang Gang, Director of the Bureau of Special Equipment under the State Administration for Market Regulation, in the past, local governments primarily focused on the safety aspects of special equipment. However, there is still considerable potential for energy conservation and emission reduction in this area. Moving forward, geological inspection departments will also play a key role in monitoring energy consumption, particularly for high-energy-use equipment.
Zhang emphasized that China is actively working on integrating energy-saving oversight into the existing safety supervision framework. This dual approach aims to enhance overall energy efficiency and support national efforts in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
In the coming years, China plans to implement energy-saving measures for special equipment through several key initiatives. These include updating relevant laws and regulations related to energy conservation, strengthening supervision during the operational phase of equipment, and promoting energy-saving upgrades in major industries and enterprises. Particular attention will be given to high-energy-consuming equipment such as boilers, and research into advanced energy-saving technologies will be accelerated.
This comprehensive strategy reflects a growing recognition of the importance of sustainability in industrial operations, and signals a more holistic approach to managing the environmental impact of special equipment.
