This achievement has contributed to the group's engine business reaching a total of 250,000 units sold this year. During a recent ceremony, Tan Xuguang, the chairman of Weichai Holding Group, personally handed over this milestone engine to dealer Le Zhongyang.
With just mid-November approaching, the number of high-power engines produced and sold in 2007 has already reached 250,000 units, maintaining Weichai’s leading position in the industry. This not only represents a new historical record for Weichai itself but also marks a new peak in the global high-power, high-speed engine manufacturing sector. The marine engine market has long been a core area for Weichai, where it maintains a market share of over 80%. In recent years, the company has expanded into the heavy truck and construction machinery sectors, achieving a near-monopoly status. The WD615 engine set a monthly sales record of 30,000 units, while the newly launched WD12 engine, within less than a year of its release, has already exceeded 10,000 units in sales. With an expected annual output of 1.5 million units, the WD12 has gained immense popularity, with some saying, “No WD12, no car.†According to official statistics, as of June this year, Weichai’s market share in heavy-duty vehicles over 14 tons reached 36%, up 9 percentage points from the previous year. In the 5-ton loader market, the share increased by 3 percentage points to 81%, further solidifying Weichai’s competitive edge.
