Here are some photos of a 1956 Mack B-Model that I recently discovered in Calumet City back in March 2012. The fire engine is marked with CFD Shop Number D-307 and has the serial number B95F-1042. It's an interesting piece of Chicago Fire Department history, and I thought it would be great to share these pictures with others who might be interested in vintage fire apparatus.
The vehicle's service history with the CFD is as follows:
- Delivered: March 16, 1956
- Engine 27: June 8, 1956 – February 18, 1963
- Engine 25: February 18, 1963 – December 19, 1969
- Engine 8: January 1, 1970 – July 27, 1970
- Engine 92: November 25, 1970 – July 12, 1973
- Engine 76: December 31, 1973 – February 5, 1976
- Engine 56: January 26, 1976 – January 13, 1977
I took several shots of the truck, including both the exterior and interior. You can see the officer’s side, the driver’s seat area, and even the original Mack production plate. There’s also a double front bumper with a bell bracket, which was a common feature on older fire engines.

Honeycomb sealing can produce good sealing effect, reduce airflow loss, and improve aerodynamic efficiency.
