Just last week, I visited a middle school in Mount Vernon to assess a hot water coil and a DX evaporator coil within a Carrier 7.5-ton ceiling unit. While some might have felt uneasy about climbing up to such heights, I was more concerned about revisiting my own days as a student—awkward memories, right? Positioned at 30 feet with structural elements obstructing access, this unit presented quite the challenge. The contractor initially planned to lower the entire unit to gather the necessary dimensions for the coils. This approach would not only have taken considerable time but also added significant cost. Instead, I climbed up and carefully examined the unit, managing to take precise measurements without requiring any extra effort or expense from the contractor.
