On Sunday evening, January 5th, 2020, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at Dengeos Restaurant located at 195 West Dundee Road. Upon arrival, police officers noticed smoke billowing from the building, drifting across the road. Firefighters quickly identified visible flames along the trim on the C-D corner of the structure, accompanied by smoke infiltrating the interior. The emergency response level was escalated to a Code 4, prompting additional resources to be dispatched.
The firefighting efforts involved extensive venting of the roof and removal of the building's siding, revealing significant charring along the affected corner. Units present at the scene included Buffalo Grove’s Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, along with multiple ambulances and command vehicles. Mutual aid was provided by neighboring departments such as Arlington Heights, Long Grove, Palatine, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Prospect Heights, and support from Lake Forest and the Nunda Rural Fire Protection District.
