Hey everyone, I just got this update from Larry Shapiro regarding the recent brush fires around Wheeling. It seems like things got pretty intense early Monday morning. Larry mentioned that RED Center started receiving calls around mid-morning about fires along the railroad tracks near 444 Carpenter, stretching all the way up to Lake Cook Road. Meanwhile, they also received reports of separate fires along Bond Street in the Long Grove Fire Protection District, close to Lincolnshire and Buffalo Grove. Some of the Buffalo Grove crews were even dealing with fires further north near Route 22. The railroad immediately halted all train traffic through the area and had another train that had just passed through stop for inspection as a precaution. Thankfully, all the fires were brought under control within about 90 minutes. Larry shared some photos from what seemed to be the biggest fire, which was located behind 250 Carpenter Street, just south of Dundee Road.
