Hey everyone, This just came in from Larry Shapiro. He mentioned that it's that time of year again when we start seeing brush fires popping up around here. Early yesterday morning, RED Center got multiple calls about fires near the Union Pacific railroad tracks in Wheeling. These fires stretched from 444 Carpenter all the way north to Lake Cook Road. Meanwhile, they also received reports of separate fires along Bond Street in the Long Grove Fire Protection District, which is close to Lincolnshire and Buffalo Grove. Some of the Buffalo Grove crews were even dealing with fires near the tracks as far north as Route 22. To ensure safety, the railroad immediately halted all train traffic through the area and had another train that had recently passed through stop for a thorough inspection. Thankfully, all the fires were brought under control within roughly 90 minutes.
