I recently had the chance to stop by Engine 46’s firehouse, and it was an experience that left quite an impression. Dan McInerney shared some fascinating insights about the place during his visit there. Inside, there were plenty of interesting sights to take in. For instance, the beautifully decorated bench stood out immediately. On another day, I decided to head further downtown to check out Engine 98’s historic firehouse. This place felt like stepping back in time. There’s something undeniably charming about its classic architecture, which has clearly stood the test of time. To mark its centennial in 2002, a commemorative plaque was installed, adding another layer of significance to the site. Walking around, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the traditions and stories embedded within these walls.
Every corner of these firehouses tells a story, whether it’s through the carefully preserved artifacts or the heartfelt tributes displayed proudly inside. These visits reminded me why firefighters hold such a revered position in society—they’re not only heroes but also stewards of history and culture.
