This message comes from Larry Shapiro:
Earlier today, around 2 PM on October 4th, 2016, a neighbor in Northbrook dialed the local fire department to report thick smoke billowing out of a residence located at 1801 Oak Avenue. By the time the first Northbrook unit arrived, there was visible smoke, prompting an urgent upgrade to a Code 4 response, indicating an active fire situation. Firefighters swiftly managed to contain what appeared to be a basement fire that had already spread upwards through some of the floorboards.
The firefighting efforts involved several neighboring departments. Northfield's Truck 29, Glenview's Truck 14, Wheeling's Engine 23, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods' Ambulance 52 were on-site, along with Northbrook’s own Engines 10 & 11, Truck 12, Ambulances 10 & 11, Battalion 11, and all three chief officers.
Attached are some images captured by Larry Shapiro himself. In one photo, you can see Glenview FD Truck 14 and Wheeling FD Engine 23 working side by side. Another shot captures the smoke rising dramatically from the house fire in Northbrook, Illinois. There’s also a close-up of Northfield FD Truck 29, which played a crucial role in managing the situation. Additionally, a picture shows Northbrook FD Engine 10, a Pierce Impel PUC model, with hoses deployed and ready for action.
