The teams performed exceptionally well during the structure fire in Wheeling. The firefighters utilized the full length of all three 75-foot sections of 2-inch hose from the standpipe to reach the fire unit. For reference, both Wheeling and Prospect Heights use the same 2-inch Denver Load Packs. Great work by E39 when they applied water from the exterior using a 2 1/2-inch line before Wheeling E23 got their 2-inch line operational. This exterior attack significantly aided E23 in deploying their own line. E23 reported a pressure of 140 psi at the gauge.
I also heard that there was considerable spalling of the precast concrete ceiling and floor within the fire unit.
