Over the past few weeks, we’ve made some progress adding new content to the site, though there’s still plenty of work to do. In Division 3, Prospect Heights now features two stations. Station 39 is fully operational, while Station 9 has one of its seven apparatus units posted. The remaining rigs should be added by the end of this week.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove in Division 4 has three stations, but their apparatus postings are still incomplete. Additionally, some data needs updating to ensure accuracy. We appreciate your patience as we work through these details.
A big thank you goes out to Karl Klotz, who recently submitted a significant portion of Division 19 for processing. Given that Division 19 doesn’t yet have a dedicated MABAS page on the site, this task will take several days. As with previous updates, there may be initial gaps in the department listings, which we’ll address as soon as possible.
Hank Sajovic has also been a tremendous help, submitting over 115 images of Chicago Fire Department firehouses. Hank mentioned that around 10-15 of these photos need updating since they were originally taken. He plans to revisit those locations before summer wraps up. On a related note, Hank is working on a new book featuring his extensive collection of Chicago firehouse images. Keep an eye out for that in the future!
As users of this site, we ask that you bear with us as we continue building out the content over the next six months. Some of the images currently available may not represent the most polished version of a station or rig, but we're doing our best to showcase each department in the best light possible. For instance, certain apparatus shots might focus on the officer’s side (which isn’t typically considered standard), or they could depict vehicles at an incident scene. Similarly, some photos might show apparatus or stations under less-than-ideal conditions, such as poor weather, or they might simply reflect what was available at the time of shooting. Our goal is to share the resources we have while aiming to replace them later with higher-quality alternatives when possible.
We’re happy to report that many of the stations in Division 3 have undergone recent photo shoots and should be uploaded to the site this week, assuming everything goes according to plan.
If you have any insights or information regarding apparatus that’s either on order or newly acquired, we’d love to hear from you! Your contributions help us stay current and ensure the accuracy of our records.
Thank you all for your support and understanding as we continue to grow and refine this project!
