From the scene of a fire this morning at the intersection of 90th and Marshfield (around 1 a.m.), here’s what unfolded. Firefighters worked tirelessly to try and save a family pet. Despite performing CPR for nearly 15 minutes, unfortunately, they were unable to revive the dog.

Eric Haak captured these photos showing the intense efforts of the Chicago Fire Department. In one image, you can see Truck 50 arriving on the scene, its bright red ladder standing out against the dark clouds of smoke.

Another shot shows Engine 121, ready to tackle the blaze with precision and urgency. The firefighters’ focus is clear as they work together to bring the situation under control.

There's also a poignant moment captured where a firefighter administers aid to a dog that was rescued from the fire. It's heart-wrenching to think about the emotional toll such incidents take on both the family and the first responders.

In another powerful photograph, firefighters are seen using axes to ventilate the roof, a critical step in managing fires like this one.

For those who want to get a closer look at the action, there’s even a video clip from the scene. Watching it feels like being right there with the crews as they battle the flames.

It’s always tough to see moments like these unfold, especially when beloved pets are involved. Our thoughts go out to the family affected by this fire, and we’re grateful for the dedication of the first responders who put themselves in harm’s way every day to keep us safe.
