Hey everyone,
Today, I took a short trip to the West Side to check out a structure fire at 742 N Pine. Engine 96 initially responded to the call and reported finding a worker trapped inside the building. Engine 117 was the first unit to arrive, quickly assessing the situation as a 2.5-story building fully engulfed in flames on the second floor and attic at the rear. By the time I got there roughly 20 minutes later, the fire had intensified significantly, with heavy smoke and flames visible from all upper levels. Engine 96, along with Engines 117 and 113, was actively engaged in firefighting efforts. Tower 14 had already set up a master stream to help control the blaze. Trucks 26 and 29 were also on the scene providing additional support. Engine 23 and Trucks 35 and 53 were positioned in staging but didn’t seem to be utilized during the initial phase. Interestingly enough, Engine 95, Truck 7, and Battalion 4 had to handle a smaller fire on Kostner Avenue just south of Madison around the same time the crews were preparing for this larger incident. It was quite a busy day for Chicago Fire Department units! Here are some photos I took:
