Mann Diesel & Turbo has once again received a 51/60DF dual fuel engine order, and an international consortium including Teekay LNG Partners has selected MAN's dual fuel diesel propulsion program for 4 LNG shipments. The boats are each equipped with two 12 V 51/60DF engines and two 8 L 51/60DF engines.
It is reported that before this contract, MAN also received orders in July 2013 to supply 30 51/60DF dual-fuel engines for six LNG carriers.
The above two orders will be produced by MAN's Augsburg plant in Germany and are expected to be delivered in 2015. The diesel mode meets IMO Tier 2 emissions requirements and the exhaust emissions in gas mode are even less than IMO Tier 3 emissions.
The new LNG carrier will be built by Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, the only large LNG carrier in China. The new vessel is expected to be delivered between September 2017 and January 2019 and will be used to support the transport of LNG cargo from the BG Group's Queensland Curtis Island LNG project.
