PSPC (Protective Coating Performance Standard) is a mandatory standard proposed by IMO (International Maritime Organization) to improve the safety of marine vessels and to avoid marine pollution. It is an integral part of SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea). The PSPC is primarily targeted at ballast tanks and oil tanks, and is currently the standard for ballast tank sections. The goal of the PSPC is to require a coating life of 15 years in the ballast tank, so this is a demanding coating system.
