China, Beijing, April 18, 2012 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that it will work with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Co., Ltd. (DSME) and STX Shipbuilding & Marine (STX) for its operations in Norway and Russia. Honeywell Integrated Automation Systems is available on five new vessels with US shipowners for a total value of more than $8 million.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Co., Ltd. (DSME), the world's second largest shipbuilder, and STX Shipbuilding, the world's fourth largest shipbuilder, will install integrated automation systems for their LNG carriers. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Co., Ltd. is building the industry's largest advanced floating storage and regasification unit, which supplies 20 million cubic meters of natural gas per day to southeastern Brazil.
The integrated automation system application will use Honeywell's advanced Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) to manage its marine machinery and cargo, including the cargo emergency shutdown system. Honeywell's solutions help project teams better manage and control operations and better respond to increasingly stringent ship standards around the world.
