Recently, the Canadian OGI Group submitted a notification of successful bid for Iraq SCOP’s Hamelin oil field development project to the Lanzhou Institute of Petroleum Machinery in Gansu Province, marking the re-entry of the Institute’s products into the Iraqi oil market.
The equipment provided by the Institute to the Iraqi oilfield market was mainly crude oil processing equipment with a contract value of US$3.5 million. The Canadian OGI Group, the purchaser, is an internationally renowned engineering company and its subsidiaries are responsible for the development of the Khalimin oil field in Iraq. The shell and tube heat exchangers, separators, heating furnaces and other products of the Lanzhou Petroleum Machinery Research Institute won the bid because of their reasonable technology solutions, outstanding market performance, and internationally competitive prices. It is understood that the equipment developed had previously been exported to Iraq. However, after the Iraqi war broke out in 2003 and was suspended, this time winning the bid for the reconstruction project in Iraq will open up new opportunities for the institute to vigorously explore the international market.
