The first meeting of the 16th Workers' Congress of Yuchai Group was successfully held
On the morning of February 16, the first session of the 16th Workers’ Congress of Yuchai Group was held at the Yuchai Cultural Center. A total of 728 employee representatives and 15 delegates from various units gathered to discuss the group’s development strategy for the year. Senior executives such as Gao Ping, Li Tiansheng, Gu Tangsheng, Zhang Jiasha, and Liang Ping attended the meeting, sitting on the podium. The event was chaired by Zhang Jiasha, deputy secretary of the Yuchai Collective Party Committee.
Notable attendees included Liu Zifu, deputy secretary of the Yulin Municipal Committee, Li Jun, deputy secretary-general of the City's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and Yang Fawei, vice chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, who all came to express their support. Liu Zifu delivered an important speech, emphasizing the achievements of Yuchai in 2008, while Yang Fawei sent a congratulatory message.
Liu Zifu highlighted that 2008 was a crucial year for Yulin City under the "Qiangchai Xingyu" initiative. Despite the global economic crisis, Yuchai successfully achieved its goal of “rebuilding Yuchai within three years,†with sales reaching 20.988 billion yuan, a 40.3% increase compared to the previous year. He praised Yuchai for maintaining top domestic production and sales for eight consecutive years, calling it a remarkable achievement under difficult conditions.
Junping, the company’s leader, gave a detailed review of Yuchai’s performance in 2008, noting the challenges posed by major changes both domestically and internationally. He emphasized the company’s commitment to “green development†and “harmonious mutual benefit.†In 2008, Yuchai achieved eight key highlights, including the successful completion of its three-year rebuilding plan, enhanced corporate social responsibility, leadership restructuring, and significant progress in R&D and brand recognition.
Fuping expressed deep gratitude to all employees for their hard work and dedication. He also acknowledged the challenges ahead, particularly in 2009, as the global financial crisis continued to impact the economy. He urged everyone to remain resilient, adapt to changing conditions, and seize new opportunities.
Luan Ping outlined the group’s long-term development goals for the next 3-5 years, including revenue targets of 35–55 billion yuan and a vision to build a world-renowned brand. He emphasized innovation, talent development, and international expansion as key priorities.
In 2009, Yuchai will focus on internal improvements, strategic management, and expanding external partnerships. Key initiatives include strengthening relationships with OEMs and suppliers, enhancing customer engagement, and investing in technological upgrades. Internally, the company will prioritize leadership development, talent cultivation, and improving operational efficiency.
Junping concluded with a strong message of confidence, stating that Yuchai is ready to face challenges and turn them into opportunities. He expressed belief in the company’s ability to emerge stronger and realize its dream of becoming a global brand.
The conference also reviewed reports from the president of Jishu Group, the financial department, and the trade union, as well as discussions on collective contracts and staff proposals. In the afternoon, representatives engaged in group discussions to further explore the topics covered during the meeting.
