The **XS Series Sand Suckers** are widely used in sand settling tanks and aeration sand settling tanks within wastewater treatment plants. These machines efficiently lift and transport the mixture of wastewater, sand, ash, and other heavy particles that settle at the bottom of the tank to a connected canal leading to a sand-water separator.
### IDENTIFICATION CODES
- **XS - × -** Tank pattern code (S = double channel, D = single channel)
- **XS** – Sand Sucker
- **Tank depth (m)**
- **Tank width (m)**
### CHARACTERISTICS
1. The sand-water mixture is lifted and transported using a submersible non-clogging pump, which incorporates technology imported from Germany. This design is simpler than gas-lift pumps and operates more quietly, without the noise typically associated with air compressors.
2. The scum skimming rake is powered by an electric-hydraulic push rod, resulting in a compact and efficient structure.
### STRUCTURE AND OPERATING PRINCIPLE
As illustrated in Diagram 1 and Diagram 2, the XS series sand sucker consists of key components such as the main beam, driver, submersible pump, scum skimmer, rail, and control box. The unit automatically moves back and forth along the top rail of the tank according to a pre-set cycle.
During operation, the sand-water mixture at the bottom of the tank is lifted and drained into a collection canal next to the tank. When moving forward, the scum skimming rake descends to scrape and collect floating scum, transporting it to the scum channel. When moving backward, the rake rises above the liquid surface to prevent scum from being pushed back. Depending on the process requirements, reverse skimming can also be applied.

This equipment is ideal for maintaining clean and efficient wastewater treatment processes, reducing manual labor, and ensuring consistent performance in industrial and municipal applications.
