My grandfather, Joe Salerno, turned 93 this month and was once the assistant fire marshal for the Cicero Fire Department many years ago. We grew up in the firehouse, and as kids, we used to play with the trucks that were named by us when we visited the firefighters. Here are some old black-and-white photos.

I have newspaper clippings with pictures that tell the story of the fires he fought. Grandpa started working in Cicero in 1954 and became assistant fire marshal in 1977. He saved many lives, including a baby who was thrown down to him from a third-floor building engulfed in flames. He's still very active and sharp, even though he recently lost his wife after 70 years of marriage. She passed away last year at 92, and now he's alone, living a quiet life. But when he talks about his days as a firefighter, his eyes light up like it was yesterday.

He was also a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific when the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan. After all the heroic deeds he did during the fires in Cicero, I want to make sure his legacy is remembered. I believe that as people age, they often forget how much their lives have impacted others. I hope these photos can be added to your website so future generations can see the bravery and dedication of someone like my grandfather.

I'll send any pictures I have for the site. On Christmas, I showed him your website, and we found the buildings where he was stationed. We saw the same fire trucks we used to take pictures of when we were kids—each of us had our own truck at the station. The firefighters were more than just coworkers; they were like family. He was really excited to see the photos online, and that’s why I’m hoping to add more to the Cicero Fire Department archive, since they haven’t responded to our requests.

Car Wax

Car wax is a traditional car paint care. Car wax is mainly composed of natural wax or synthetic wax, which can increase the brightness by penetrating into the gaps of the paint surface to make the surface smooth. Traditional car waxing is mainly for light protection. Now, with the development of car beauty industry, car waxing has been given a new connotation, that is, the appearance and increasingly extensive application of grinding wax.

Car wax is a type of product used to protect and enhance the appearance of a car's exterior. It is typically made from a blend of natural waxes, such as carnauba wax, and synthetic polymers. Car wax can be applied to the paint, chrome, and other exterior surfaces of a car to create a protective barrier against UV rays, water, and other environmental contaminants. It can also help to restore the shine and luster of a car's finish, making it look newer and more attractive. There are many different types of car wax available, including liquid, paste, and spray-on varieties, each with their own unique properties and benefits.
