At just after 3 a.m. this morning, the Prospect Heights Fire and Police departments were called to an accident on Camp McDonald Road near Maple, approximately 50 yards east of Station 9. Upon arrival, emergency responders found a single-vehicle collision with four people inside. According to initial reports, the vehicle had lost control while traveling east, veered off the road, hit a tree, and then a mailbox before crashing into another tree in the next yard. The force of the impact split the car in two, but miraculously, it didn’t strike the front bedrooms of the house.

Three of the four teenagers were thrown from the vehicle. Tragically, all three died instantly at the scene. The fourth victim was taken by ambulance to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. Local authorities immediately called in the accident recovery team, which worked on-site for several hours to clear the wreckage. The vehicle was finally removed from the scene 12 hours after the incident.

The Chicago Tribune covered the story here, and the Daily Herald has an article here. For those interested in seeing more visuals, the full gallery of images from the recovery operation can be viewed here.
