This report comes from Steve Redick.

There was a technical rescue incident in the 8500 block of N Olcott last night, involving a trench collapse during a construction project in front of a house. A worker became trapped, and emergency crews were quickly on the scene. The Niles Fire Department deployed their aerial unit, which had some kind of hoist or pulley system attached, though it wasn't in use at the time I arrived. I could see some shoring in place, and a "sewer sucker" was actively being used to clear debris. After about 90 minutes of careful extrication, the victim was successfully pulled out and appeared to be in good condition. I managed to capture several good photos of the operation, including shots of the equipment and the team in action.
