Several months ago, we published an update on the Naperville Fire Department to the site. A number of photographers visited the department on different occasions to capture the latest equipment and the current station assignments for each company. Some of the apparatus had already been relocated or reorganized since they were last photographed a year or so ago, but everything was updated for the post with the help of Lt. Andy Hilk from Naperville FD. Well, we recently received word that the department wasn’t completely done with their reassignments and that more changes were on the way. Bill Friedrich shared some new details about the recent shifts across the stations. - Medic 9 is currently out of service. - Medic 1 has now taken over the 2007 IHC/Medtec unit that was previously assigned to Medic 9. - Squad 1 (a 1997 E-One) has returned to Station 8 and is once again designated as Squad 8. - Engine 8’s 2008 Crimson pumper has been moved back to Station 1 and is now operating as Engine 1. - The 2009 Crimson quint that used to be part of Truck 10 is now running as Truck 5. - The 2005 E-One tower ladder, which was previously Truck 5, is now being held as a spare. - The 1994 E-One tower ladder without a pump, which had been in reserve, has been decommissioned and will likely be sold. - Engine 10 is now using a 2005 E-One Typhoon. - The TRT trailer is set to move to Station 10. We’ve included a couple of old photos to give you a sense of how things have changed over time. The first one shows Squad 8 when it was stationed at Station 1 before being renumbered. The second image features Engine 1 when it was still assigned to Station 1, before we had a photo labeled as Engine 8. These updates highlight the ongoing evolution of the department’s fleet and station layout.
